Want More From Your Union?
Dear Fellow Union Member,
If you're like me, you think our union could be better. Wish you had your leaders more available to address important problems? Looking for hardball negotiators? Do you just downright want to feel proud of being a union member again? It's time for a change in leadership, and that's why I'm writing you this letter.
What Does the UAW Need?
To restore our union's strength, we need a leader who is accessible, knowledgeable, and trustworthy enough to meet the challenges we will be facing in our future.
Who Will Lead the Way?
With my prior experience as a veteran, a contract administrator, and electrician, I am ready to guide our members to solidarity and strength. If you don't already know me, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Kyle Baker, and I've been a member of our union for the past 18 years. I would like to be your next union president.
"Kyle has the capacity, ability, and qualification to contain what is going on in Local 95.
He is not part of the clique. He is not part of the popularity contest. We need some new leaders who are qualified to assist in running the Local Union. I believe Kyle will get the job done."
Clay Barclay,
What Are My Qualifications?
Tooting my own horn is not my style. But I am so concerned with the future of our union that I've got to step up to the plate and let you know what I have to offer. I've got four personal qualities strengthened by work experiences that set me apart from the crowd. Knowledge.
Integrity. Courage. Accessiblity.
Knowledge
My job history has been long and varied. I've worked on my family's farm and learned good traditional values, like dedication and strong work ethics that have served me well all my life. I joined the Air Force and earned the pride and the privilege of becoming Airman of the Month. I've gained a strong financial background from preparing and presenting school budgets in excess of $1,000,000. My knowledge in these and many other areas will help me to provide you with the best leadership for our union.
"It was always a pleasure to work with Kyle. He always did his best to help solve any problems we might have had and more often than not went out of his way to do so."
Tom Goodwin, Production CI
Integrity
In serving our union, I want you to know that I will devote my sense of truth and justice to helping us move forward. My interests aren't split. I've got no hidden agenda. I will be honest and upfront with you. My time will belong to improving our union.
"Kyle has a high set of standards & will not compromise them."
Karen Barta, Tinner
Courage
Our upcoming negotiations will require strong convictions and bravery on behalf of all of our union members. Because of my military experience and my work as a contract administrator, quite frankly, I simply am not intimidated by people in positions of authority.
Accessibility
How can leaders lead if they aren't around to answer questions and discuss issues? They can't. That's why I make it a point to immediately address any concerns, issues, or questions that are brought up to me. I am committed to being available to those who are counting on me.
"Up to date on problems in plant and will answer any questions if not the same day, then the next day."
Janet Paulson, Production Assembler
Any Other Questions or Issues You'd Like to Discuss?
If you'd like to know more about me, got any questions you'd like to ask, or issues you'd like to talk about. I work as a second shift electrician on General Assembly. Please feel free to seek me out. I'd welcome the opportunity to get together and talk about how we can strengthen our union.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I look forward to keeping our Local 95 strong and thriving by becoming your next union president.
Sincerely,
Kyle Baker
P.S. A special thanks to Karen Barta, Tom Goodwin, Clay Barclay, and Janet Paulson for their votes of confidence. I hope that everyone else who reads this letter will come to know me as they do, as the best candidate for the presidency of our Local 95.
